Cranial Osteopathy

Go with the flow.

What is Cranial Osteopathy?

Cranial Osteopathy is a very gentle form of Osteopathy generally focused on the head, neck and spine.  Osteopaths who treat patients using the Cranial Osteopathy techniques are trained to feel a subtle motion within the body called the Primary Respiratory Mechanism (PRM).  Blockages can occur within the PRM that stop the body from performing optimally.  Cranial Osteopathy fixes those blockages so you can feel better.

What is the Primary Respiratory Mechanism (PRM)?

Just as the lungs breathe and the heart beats, the Primary Respiratory Mechanism (PRM) is the movement created by the central nervous system.  This movement permeates all parts of your body.

What is the difference between Cranial Osteopathy and Craniosacral treatments?

Cranial Osteopathy is performed by a physician, specifically an Osteopathic physician, who has graduated four years of medical school, residency, and has completed an additional 40 hours of specialized training through The Osteopathic Cranial Academy.  This training provides a deep understanding of the cranial system and its connection to the other body systems.  Osteopathic physicians must pass board and state license exams to practice.

Craniosacral Therapists take a four-day course to start practicing and two four-day courses to become certified.  There is no regulatory licensure.
